Buchanan made his return to the majors a memorable one, getting his first major league hit and RBI and winning his sixth game, tying Cole and Roberto for the club high in wins. Final: 10-3, a rare Wednesday win.
Ben led a 12-hit attack with four. The top four hitters went 10-18 as the dormant offense awoke with a five-spot in the first inning. Chase’s homer marked the 11th straight season of double-digits in dingers, one of five second basemen to do so. Last was Jeff Kent (12, 1997-2008). Howard drove in two runs, giving in him 67 for the season, fourth best in the league.
So, the Phillies have won two consecutive series at home for the first time since last September.
