Late-inning Damage

For the second straight night, a three-run double late in the game did the Phillies in. On Tuesday, it happened in the 14th inning. Last night, the ninth inning. A hit batter, intentional walk and unintentional walk preceded the game-winning hit by Pence just inside the right field foul line.

Twice on Tuesday, the Phillies had a runner on third with one out and didn’t score. It happened two times again last night.

Giants, who have won five in a row against the Phillies, go for a four-game sweep this afternoon.

Number of the Day
131: Pitches thrown by A.J. in eight innings last night, second most in his career and second most in the history of Citizens Bank Park (132 by Roy Halladay in 2010).
