RISP Drought

Pap blew a save by yielding a rare game-tying homer in the 9th and the offense continued to struggle with runners in scoring position. Result: Giants fourth straight win over the Phillies, 9-6, in 14 innings.

For Pap, it was the first home run he’s given up this season and only the third extra-base hit. Since he’s been with the Phillies, he’s pitched two innings only one other time. Guess what? It was a 6-5 SF win at Citizens Bank Park in 10 innings almost two years to the day, July 21.

Phillies scored five runs over the first five innings and one in the 14th. Twice (first and ninth innings) they had a runner on third with one out and didn’t score. Against the Giants bullpen in two games, one run and seven hits in 15 innings.

Since winning five in a row, the Phillies are 1-6. During the streak, they hit .361 with runners in scoring position. Since then, they are hitting .184 with RISP, 1-15 last night.
