The marathon Mets series is over…finally. The five-game series literally turned into six games when you take into account back-to-back 14-innng games and one that took 11 innings.

Mets return for their last four games at Citizens Bank Park this season, August 8-11, Alumni Weekend.

During that span Knigge has allowed just 14 H and 4 BB while striking out 14. Knigge’s streak earned him a promotion to Lehigh Valley on Sunday … The 6-foot-4 Oregon native was signed in the 12th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Lewis & Clark State College.
Player – OF, Leandro Castro, Lehigh Valley … 8 G … Batted .345 (10-29), .387 OBP, .448 SLG %, 4 R, 3 2B, 2 BB, 2 SB … Having hit safely in 16 of his last 20 games played going into tonight, Castro is batting .298 (20-67) in that span … The Dominican Republic native was signed as a non-drafted free agent on March 7, 2007.
Lehigh Valley won, 3-0, at Durham, a combined four-hitter by Brad Lincoln (2-3), BJ Rosenberg and Ken Giles (5th save). Ronny Cedeno, 2 RBI.

Clearwater lost, 5-0, to Bradenton, getting three hits.
Lakewood lost, 10-6, to Greensboro, allowing five runs over final two innings. 1B Willians Astudillo extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a 2-run double, his 14th. RF Dylan Cozens, 2 doubles, giving him 14.
Williamsport begins its season on June 13.
Gulf Coast League Phillies start their season June 20.
June 3, 1972: Paul Owens, a member of the Phillies organization since 1956 and the club’s farm director since 1965, is promoted to General Manager, replacing John Quinn. Owens becomes the architect of the Phillies greatest era to that point: one world championship, two NL pennant-winners and five division titles.
June 3, 1978: Reserve IF Dave Johnson blasts a game-winning, pinch-hit grand slam in the ninth inning to lift the Phillies to a 5-1 win over Los Angeles before an NBC national TV audience at the Vet. It is Johnson’s second pinch-hit grand slam of the season, a major league first.
June 3, 2007: CF Shane Victorino hits a walk-off home run on Shane Victorino Hula Figurine Day, 9-8 over the Giants at Citizens Bank Park.
