Phillies must like weekends. Over their first four, they have an 8-4 record on Fridays-Saturdays and Sundays. Now, the Nationals come to town for three weekend games. Expect a lot of strikeouts tonight as Cliff faces Strasburg. Cliff’s 40 rank 7th in the NL; Strasburg’s 53 are 2nd.
A year ago, the Phillies were 8-11 against Washington, but 6-4 at home. Phillie connections with the Nats: Jayson Werth, Kevin Fransden and Gio Gonzalez.
The merry month of May has a heavy home schedule,19, including NL East, AL East, ALWest, NL Central. Interleague includes a 4-game series against the Blue Jays, Monday and Tuesday at home, Wednesday and Thursday in Toronto. Weird.
While the Phillies like weekends, they don’t like Wednesdays, 0-4. Their best Wednesday came a couple of days ago, a rain out.
Brad Lidge will be here tomorrow night as the Phillies continue their CBP Saturdays, a salute to great moments in the first 10 years of CBP.
Number of the Day
8–Road games the Phillies have this month. Their last road trip was 10. Weird, again.
