Masterful Cliff

Following Sunday’s crazy game in Coors Field, the Phillies returned to normal baseball last night in Dodger Stadium.

Cliff ended a personal 2-game losing streak as the Phillies won, 7-0. In his previous 3 starts, they scored a total of 4 runs. Cliff was masterful, retiring 20 straight at one point. His ability to throw strikes is amazing. So far this season, 38 strikeouts, 2 walks. Cliff is 3-0 on the road this year, 74-42 lifetime.

Ryan hit his 5th homer in 19 games. A year ago, he didn’t reach 5 until his 31st game. He has homered in nine straight seasons at Dodgers Stadium, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Only other players to match that are Mike Schmidt and Dale Murphy.

Chooch doubled in the first two runs, his first RBI in his 50th at-bat. A year ago, his first RBI came in his 51st plate appearance.

Mike Lieberthal and his family were spectators, front row seats.
