1 Small Step

Best way to get to the post season is to win a series time and time again. We’ve certainly seen that over the past six seasons.

For the third time in the last four, the Phillies have won the series, including two of three from the Braves over the weekend. One small step for mankind. I know, I know, someone else used that line a long time ago.

What is more news-worthy is that this series win came on a weekend. Last time the Phillies took two of three on a weekend was May 17-19 vs. Cincinnati.

So, now the Nationals, winners of four straight and the division’s hottest team (7-3 in last 10), comes to Citizens Bank Park. Four games starting tonight. To win the series, the Phillies would need three wins. Not easy.

Tonight’s game is an ESPN telecast nation-wide.

Elias Sports Bureau
Domonic had a triple (4th) and homer (23rd), the second player in Phillies history to reach those levels in both categories before the All-Star break. Mike Schmidt had 26 homers and four triples in 1977.
