Lee Dry Spell Continues
The season of disbelief continued last night for Cliff. He’s winless in his last 12 starts at home (0-6) since he beat the Braves last Sept. 5. Yep, he won 11 games at Citizens Bank Park a year ago. He wound up with his 13th no decision, tops in the majors.
Cliff’s next start is scheduled for Sunday against the Nationals. His last win came in DC on July 31, 8-0. His other win was July 4.
Cincinnati broke a seven-game losing streak against the Phillies (May 24, 2011) with late game long balls, one in the eighth off Bastardo and another in the ninth that turned out to be the game-winner off Papelbon. The Phillies came back to tie in the seventh and eighth and had the tying run on third in the ninth but couldn’t get to Chapman and his 100 mph fast balls.
Fransden continued his impressive play with his third three-hit game in his last five games and two sparkling defensive plays.
Retro Night tonight and then a classic pitching matchup on Thursday, Cole (14-6) against Cueto (16-6).
