Roy-O Throws 000 000 000

The scene changes but the goal remains the same, win a series.

Roy-O was spectacular yesterday as the Phillies won the rubber game of the three-game series in New York. Now, Miami for three with the Marlins.

Elias Sports Bureau: Oswalt tossed a four-hit shutout to defeat the Mets on Sunday in the 300th start of his major-league career. Oswalt (146-81) has the third-most wins through his first 300 career starts of any active pitcher. Only Andy Pettitte (156-87 in 2005) and Doc (153-78 earlier this year) had more wins (as a starter) through their 300th start than Oswalt.

The trade to bring him to Philadelphia certainly looks like a gem.

The series win was their 11th in the last 12, including the last four on the road.

We’ve now had winning seasons in eight straight years, the longest since nine in a row, 1975-83.

BlueClaws Open Finals
Game 1 of the South Atlantic League Championship playoffs (best-of-5) is tonight in Greenville, SC.

Manager Mark Parent has named four 20-year-old right-handed starters for the series.

Results of each game will be posted on this site under FEATURES.

Happy Birthday
Rick Wise turns 65 today.  He’s the only pitcher in major league history to hit two home runs while pitching a no-hitter (1971).

Um, I know some others will get you on this, but Rick Wise never pitched a perfect game. He is the only pitcher to hit two homers while pitching a NO-HITTER.

nats25…thanks for correcting my simple error. Have made the change.
