Minor League Awards
RHP Austin Hyatt was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Year. He spent most of the season with the Clearwater Threshers before moving up to Reading.
1B Jonathan Singleton, who turns 19 on September 18, was named the Most Outstanding Prospect in the South Atlantic League. Baseball America also named him the league’s Most Exciting Player.
OF Domonic Brown, who began this year in Reading, was given the same award by Baseball America for the Eastern League.
Sunday, a pair of Alumni turn 85….Whiz Kids catcher Stan Lopata and manager Frank Lucchesi, who won the last game at Connie Mack Stadium and the first game at Veterans Stadium.
