Tripleheader Event Day
Today
Phillies and Blue Jays are playing a doubleheader, so to speak. There is a 12 noon “B” game against the Blue Jays at Carpenter Field (Jamie Moyer to start). The regularly-scheduled game with the Blue Jays is at 1:05 in Dunedin (Carlos Carrasco/J. A. Happ). Staff wants to see Carlos and J. A. against the Blue Jays’ “A” lineup.
We took batting practice at Bright House Field. Busses for the 3-mile trip to Dunedin left at 11:30 a.m. “B” gamers took batting practice at Carpenter Field.
Same doubleheader on Friday, 2 p.m. “B” game at Carpenter and 7:05 night game in Dunedin.
World Baseball Classic
USA, one of 16 teams that will compete in the World Baseball Classic, had a 9:15 a.m. meeting this morning at Bright House Field, a team photo at 11:15 a.m. and then a workout at 12:30 p.m. They will play games the next three days, flying to Toronto after their 12:30 p.m. game against the Phillies on Thursday.
You’ll need a scorecard to tell the players as Jimmy Rollins is wearing #1 and Shane Victorino, #50. Third base coach Mike Schmidt is wearing his familiar #20.
Team Canada practices in Dunedin today. Their manager is Ernie Whitt, who will be the Clearwater Threshers manager this season.
