Tonight’s Lineup
As of 5 p.m., the Phillies lineup was still up in the air, pending Jimmy Rollins’ availability.

Tough Night
Tough night in New York last night.  Great pitching but an offense that didn’t execute and produce.

Charlie Manuel said it best in Ken Mandel’s game report on this site: “We had a lot of opportunities, but couldn’t get the hit at the right time.  Our batting average is down and our run production is down.”

Checking the team offensive numbers, the Phillies are at .243, which is below last year’s .274 final figure.  On average, 4.2 runs per game this year vs. 5.5 a year ago.  The bats will come around.

Cubs In Town
Riding a five-game winning streak, the Cubs begin a weekend series at Citizens Bank Park tonight.

In the first four years of Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies have won eight of the 12 meetings with the Cubs.

Carlos Zambrano, their ace, faces Bret Myers tonight.  Has the makings of a classic pitching duel.

Elsewhere
Chris Coste will autograph his book, “The 33-Year-Old Rookie”, tomorrow from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m., at the Majestic Clubhouse Store in Citizens Bank Park . . . Jimmy Rollins will receive his MVP, Rawlings Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards pre-game tomorrow night.  Chase Utley will receive his third consecutive Silver Slugger Award . . . Veteran left-handed reliever Steve Klein, 35, has been signed by the Phillies.  He is expected to join the Lehigh Valley IronPigs next week . . . The IronPigs play their home opener tonight at Coca-Cola Park.  They are off to a 0-8 start.  Last time a Dave Huppert managed club started 0-9 was the Lakewood BlueClaws, who went on to become the South Atlantic League Champions in 2006 . . . Showers are forecast for the weekend but it doesn’t appear is any of the games are in real jeopardy of not being played . . . Tickets are available for the entire weekend.
