Irish Eyes Are Smiling
A perfect Clearwater Chamber of Commerce afternoon….sunny, warm, blue sky, green grass. Bright House Field was packed again. Normally, red Phillies garb dominates the crowd. Being St. Patrick’s Day, green competed with red today.
The offense that has been sputtering strung together a crooked number (more than one run) in the second inning to send the Phillies on their way to their second consecutive win.
RHP Chad Durbin turned in his best spring outing. The two-run homer in the fifth was hit by Aaron Herr, son of ex-Phillie, Tommy Herr.
The day meant Irish Eyes are Smiling.

Geez- I bought the media guide for a reason, to look things up.
Number 99 was worn by:
Mitch Williams in 1993
Turk Wendell in 2001.
Laura
I think the media guide may have a slight error.
Baseball Almanac has Wendell wearing #13 in 2001, he wore 99 with the Mets, but not with the Philliess. He wore #13 with the Astros too.

And USA Today has a roster here with Wendell wearing #13 in 2001 for the Phillies.

Here is the Andy Carter 1995 link. Scroll to the bottom and it shows him as #99.

So, just to reiterate my original response:
Andy Carter 1995 (he also wore #50 in prior years)
Mitch Williams 1993 (he also wore #28 in prior years)
Well, since I used the Phillies media guide perhaps there should be 2 winners.
Here we go:
Mitch Williams 1993
Ted Kazanski 1959
Thanks, I’ll take that ball now!!!!!
Should I say:
Ted Kazansky 1953-1958
Mitch Wiliams 1993
Sorry I keep mispelling.
Kazanski 53-58
Williams 93
AM I right?????
I’ll give it one more college try:
Ted Kazanski 1953-1958
Mitch Williams 1991-1993
That’s my final answer!
I believe that Charlie Keller (1952) and Mitch Williams (1993-1995) wore #99 in the majors.
I misread the question earlier…Andy Carter (1995) and Mitch Williams (1993) are the two Phillies to previously wear # 99 for the Phillies.
