Let Us Know

October 11, 2007

Thanks to those who posted comments from time to time.  Always glad to hear what is on the minds of our fans.

Yes, the 2007 edition of the Fightin’ Phils certainly captured the fans’ fancy.  Oops, we are supposed to spell everything with a Ph: Phans’ Phancy!.  Charlie Manuel managed a bunch that never quit, was down but always bounced back and busted gut every game.

Speaking of comments, we’d love to hear from you.

Phillies Insider is going to take a break for a while.  In the meantime, let us know what you would like to see/read/hear on phillies.com during this off-season.

Aaron must stay. Time for phillies to dig in pockets and keep this baseball player. WE continue to trade away each year good players for pitching ( years now) and we’re still no better off.I.E. Adam Eaton. Someone in the outfield has to be there capable of catch the missles hit off this very poor pitching staff.

In addition, can Itachio ( sorry of spelling) be re-adjusted for third base for which we also desperitely need to bolster?

Please respond to comment

Please, please don’t let victorino go. I love the hilarity and heart he brings to the clubhouse. I read that if Rowand was resigned, Victorino might be traded. Of course, rumors, but I do not want him to go.

I also wanted to respond to the comment below (or above, however this gets posted) Our starting pitching is great, our bullpen needs work.

The “Catching up with…” articles were probably my favorite last year during the off season. Its great to hear from the players whenever they get a chance. These blogs are a great update of what’s going on with our beloved team.

Thanks Phillies!!

I want Aaron Rowand back in center field in 2008. He brings great defense, gritty play, excellent hitting, leadership, and a constant positive attitude to our team.
Jimmy Rollins has had the “got game Baby”courage and conviction to be an outspoken leader More this year than ever before, and I was just waiting for him to finally step up into that role. I’m sure he knows how much we appreciate his doing that for his teammates and for us, the loyal fans.

Maybe I missed it, but I am a little surprised that there was no mention of the 1 year anniversary of the death of Cory Lidle today October 11th.

Please find a way to keep Rowand. We need him. Also keeping Romero would solidify our bullpen in a much needed way. I would love to see
Iguchi back on the team next year. What about Lohse? I’d rather see him back than Leiber or Garcia.

Forget trying to trade for a starting pitcher. We’ve already got the best starter avaiable under contract — Brett Myers. Who are you going to trade for a stud starter? Pat has a full no-trade clause. Jayson? Shane? Michael? I think all three of these guys have the potential to develop into something special, but they will be needed to fill in the centerfield spot if Aaron leaves via free agency, as well as left-field spot after Pat isn’t re-signed when his contract expires. The best addition that can be made to the rotation is Brett Myers. Yeah, sure, I love Brett as a closer, but there are closers available on the market, but a rotation with Hamels (#1), Myers (#2), Kendrick (#3), and Moyer (#4) will allow the offense to have an off-night and still win. Quite frankly, the offense fizzled against Colorado because they just had nothing left in the tank from having to carry the team through all of the adversities this past season.

Hopefully, Eaton can get his shoulder, as well as his brain, straightened out in the off-season. When he’s on, he has some great stuff, but he needs to learn how to induce more groundballs to survive two more years at the Bank. Perhaps it wasn’t wise to sign a flyball-type pitcher as a free agent.

Larry – I would appreciate updates on Phillies and rookies in Arizona Fall League, Winterball etc. At Thanksgiving, a section on what the Phillis are thankful for, and at Christmas time, their favorite christmas stories or acts of charity. Additionally, 2 times a month, quick blog interview with an alumni. Thanks. Bill

I HAVE BEEN A FAN FOR OVER 50 YEARS. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THIS TEAM HAS THE CORE TO BECOME THE BEST PHILLY IN EVER. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I AM OFFERING MY ADVICE. DON’T GO CRAZY FOR FREE AGENT PITCHING,I FEEL WE ALREADY HAVE MOST OF THE PITCHERS WE NEED ON THE TEAM, AND IN THE MINORS. I WOULD TRY TO AQUIRE BYRD, AND SCHILLING, AND A LITTLE HELP IN THE BULLPEN WITH A TRADE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO GET A RIGHT HAND HITTING THIRD BASEMAN WHO CAN FIELD. IF YOU CAN’T GET LOWELL, THAN TRADE FOR ONE. RIGHT HANDED PINCHHITTER ALSO NEEDED.MAKE THESE MOVES AND THE PHILLYS WILL BE A POWER FOR YEARS.

Pat Burrell is a lot better than most people think. Look at his post-All Star stats.

One word…. “Mike Lowell”

Larry,

Thanks for a great blog all season. You have inspired me to begin my own entitled Phightin’ Phils Phorum. I look forward to your comments this off season and look forward to the Phillies having an even better 2008!

Find a way to KEEP Aaron Rowand!!! He is worth the money! He has been a spiritual leader as well as a guy who gets it done on this team…we can not afford to lose his bat, his glove OR his overall presence in this ball club. The way he has bonded with the management and the other players are intangibles that CANNOT BE REPLACED! Again, pay the man! You will never find another one like him :o) Thanks for the blog and best of luck in 08!

Cole Hamels#1 Kyle Kendrick#2 Curt Schilling #3 Jamie Moyer #4 Romero ,Gordon ,Myers Mike Lowell at third = world series with enough money nleft to give Rowand and howard their money they deserve Pat Gillick please make Curt Schilling a phillie again and we will see the promised land next October

I KNOW ARE COMMENTS DONT RUN THE FRONT OFFICE OF THE PHILLIES, BUT MAYBE SOME TIME S THEY SHOULD BE LOOKED AT. I DONT KNOW PAT GILLICKS BUDGET BUT ALOT OF FOLKS ON THIS BLOG HAVE THE RIGHT IDEA. PAY AARON,PLAY RYAN,SIGN SCHILL FOR 2 YEARS HE WOULD COME BACK TO PHILLY,AND OFFER MIKE LOWELL A CONTRACT HE CANT REFUSE. I.E. TEAM CHEMISTRY GETS EVEN BETTER THAN NOW,AND WORLD SERIES APPERANCE IS ON HORIZEN. THANKS

PLEASE find a way to keep Rowand! He is the type of player that we love and he is a tremendous asset to our offense AND defense! After his acquisition, we would only be a couple (pitching)pieces away! Pay the money! I can’t wait for March! See you in Clearwater!

hope you’re listening to the people who really pay the bills…the 3 million strong who entered the gates…sign mr.rowand, sign mr.lowell(or mr.atkins),get some young arms(schill will kill the clubhouse)…looking forward to next year!

To the Phils,
I was 11 in 1993, it was the first year I followed the Phillies. It was a magical season and I have been a die-hard phan ever since (believe me, I have died hard a few times since then). Please Keep Rowand in a phillies uniform, and DON’T LET VICTORINO Go. You all know what needs to be done, this is a great team with a great front office. Thank you for the amazing season, I see a championship soon. Keep up the great work.

the last thing we need to do is spend all that money on a 50 year old pitcher schilling.. mike lowell would be great idea for our large spending but we really need to focus on getting more than one pitcher I mean that worked out great for the yankees with the rocket and the unit?? riiiight

Do not sign Rivera. He will not make it three years maybe not through next. I like Lowell but I hate losing draft picks or pick. If they move Burrell to the Angels maybe they have a 3rd baseman. I like Blalock but I would rather have a right handed 3rd baseman.

Please resign Rowand and keep Victorino. They are two elite outfielders and I think that Victorino should be getting more playing time than Werth. Rowand is the best centerfielder in the NL. Please keep them both!!!!

I have to agree with some comments made. We do need Rowand and he is the best center fielder in the N.L. However, if there is any way to spring a little more money: we have enough outfielders to let Rowand go and be solid and there is a pretty big name out there at third base, where we have been weak for a very long time.

Please bring Scott Graham back to the broadcast team. Scott’s humor and interaction with LA and the others made the broadcasts enjoyable. His play by play announcing was one of the best.

Please sign Aaron Rowand!
If you can work a deal for The “D-Train” do it! Even if it means losing Shane V.

Imagine Hamels,Myers,Willis,Kendrick,Moyer/Eaton,!!!!!!
