Players of the Week (June 5-11)
Pitcher: RH Andy Baldwin, Clearwater.  Pitched second career complete game, a 2-1 win over Sarasota on Friday, 5 hits, 0 walks, 8 strikeouts;
retired 16 of 17 batters at one point.  For the month of June, he is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA.  The 23-year-old was drafted in the fifth round in June 2004 out of Oregon State University.
Player: OF Jeremy Slayden, Lakewood.  Hit .429 in 7 games, 4 runs, 3 RBI and 9 hits.  He had a 6-game hitting streak and is batting .421 for the month.  The 23-year-old was an eighth round selection a year ago out of Georgia Tech.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons
Won 3 of 7 games . . . RHP Gavin Floyd won his first AAA start on Tuesday over Louisville, 9 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 9 SO; 75 of his 105 pitches were strikes . . . He allowed 2 runs in 7 IP in a no decision on Sunday . . . LHP Brian Mazone improved to 4-1 with a 2-1 win over Rochester on Friday.  He allowed a first inning run in 6.1 IP . . . Bobby Scales had 10 hits for the week, playing 4 different positions, LF, 3B, 2B, DH.

Reading Phillies
2-5 week . . . RHP Scott Mathieson was 1-0 for 2 starts, the win coming on Tuesday, 8 SO in 8 IP.  He also hit his second home run of the season.  In other start, he walked 6 in 5 IP in getting a no decision.  Mathieson leads the Eastern League with 85.2 IP and 95 strikeouts . . . C Jason Jaramillo returned from the disabled list and had three-run homers in back-to-back games . . . 3B-LF-CF Joey Hammond has hit in 14 of his last 16 games . . . CF Michael Bourn continues to lead the EL in runs scored (47) . . . LH reliever Chris Key has allowed 1 unearned run in 13 IP since being promoted from Clearwater on May 27.  He is 1-0 with 3 saves.

Clearwater Threshers
4-3 week . . . LHP James Happ beat Lakeland, 3-1, on Tuesday, 8 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 10 SO; retired 14 of last 15, 7 via strikeouts . . . RHP Kyle Kendrick was Saturday’s winner in 10-0 romp over Sarasota, 7 IP, 3 H . . . 3B Mike Costanzo was 5-for-5 in the game . . . 1B Bryan Hansen drove in 8 runs during the week . . . LHP Randy Wolf make his first rehab start on Thursday, 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 SO . . . CF Brian Burgamy has reached base in 34 consecutive games.

Lakewood BlueClaws
4-3 week . . . LHP Joshua Outman won two games, Monday and Sunday, allowing 2 runs (0 earned) in 11.2 total IP; he fanned 11 . . . Reliever Michael Zagurski picked up a win with 3 scoreless innings on Thursday . . . LHP Matt Maloney gave up a lead-off single on Friday and then retired 18 straight batters enroute to Lakewood’s league-leading ninth shutout.  Maloney leads the South Atlantic League with 85 strikeouts and a 1.71 ERA . . . RHP Carlos Carrasco struck out 10 in 5.2 innings but lost, 3-0, on Saturday; his 83 strikeouts are second in the SAL . . . Free agent OF Mike Spidale was signed on Thursday and collected 7 hits in his first 4 games . . . Lakewood’s staff is second in the SAL with a 3.11 ERA and 566 strikeouts.
